Food Distribution Signup

Help us with our upcoming food distributions. There are several ways you can participate and bless those in our community who are in need. You can sign up to be a regular server on any of our five teams. You can also be a regular contributor to the cause by providing non-perishable goods (see list below). Or you can do BOTH! Thanks for partnering with us to help out our community during this difficult COVID season and spreading the love of Christ.

Food Distribution Donation List:

1 Box of Grits or Oatmeal
2 Cans of Pasta (Chef Boyardee)
1 Box of Pasta
1 Jar of Pasta Sauce
2 Boxes of Mac-n-Cheese
2 Cans of Meat (3 cans is smaller)
1 Can of Beans
1 Can of Chili with Beans
2 Cans of Soup
2 Cans of Fruit
4 Cans of Vegetables
1 Jar of Peanut Butter
1 Jar of Jelly
1 Roll of Paper Towels

NOTE: We need non-perishable foods and do not want large boxes/bags. For instance, we don’t want 10 lb bags of rice, rather 1 or 2 lb.

Food donations can be dropped off on Sundays as you come for worship, or during the drive-thru from 2-3 pm.

Cash and check donations should be designated for “Food Distribution.”

TEAM DESCRIPTIONS:


Promotion Team:

 • Keep the need for food donations before the church via flyers, hallway monitors, Friendly News, Sunday morning announcements, etc. (Work with Chris White)

 • Place signage in Pocket 22 (Empire Crossing and Colonial Apartments area) the Tuesday one week before the Food Distribution date.

 • Promote this ministry to the public in the designated target groups:

    o Pocket 22

    o Jefferson Elementary School (to start on October 13th)

    o Doris Henderson New Comer School (to start: to be announced)
Collection Team:

 • Have team members available to receive food donations at all main worship services.

 • Place and maintain FDM boxes at the main entrances.

 • Transport food to the new kitchen each Sunday afternoon.

 • Have a team member available at the Sunday afternoon drive thru to receive donations.

Distribution Team:

 • Have personnel at the Friendly Avenue entrance to direct traffic.

 • Position a registration team to register those we serve.

 • Organize and operate a no-contact distribution at the portico to the Ministry Center.

 • Maintain a count of families served.

Follow-up Team:

 • Utilizing text messaging templates make contact with all who register. Share a brief note of appreciation for their participation, share about upcoming church activities with an invitation to come, share a brief paragraph with the gospel message or your testimony, share the date for the next Food Distribution.

Packing Team - FULL:

 • Maintain a current list of food items needed on the church website (See Chris White)

 • Organize packing are – currently in the New Kitchen

 • Pack food for families

 • Keep the FDM leader aware of food needs
